WorldPainter is an interactive, graphical map generator for Minecraft. 53 minutes ago A small map I have made in worldpainter including different types of trees landscapes and rivers. Eventually I'll be building a village on it however, if anyone wants to have a go at building whatever they want, here you go! Progress: 100% complete: Tags: Map.
To create a Minecraft map using this method, several steps are necessary.
Please read all information before asking for support. A handful of programs are required, all of which can be installed free of charge for private purposes. If you need more information about the specific programs, please contact the respective developers.
Requirements
- 64-bit Windows
- 8 GB RAM (16 recommended)
- 25-100 GB hard drive (depending on the map size you will need much more)
- Active internet connection
- All programs from the following list
Programs to install
At first, download the latest version of these programs and install them with all features.
Java Runtime Environment (64 Bit)
https://www.java.com/de/download/manual.jsp
Most of you will already have this installed, because you need Java for a lot of programs, like Minecraft itself. Be sure to use the version 8 and not something newer, like 11, because the Javascript Engine in WorldPainter still requires Java 8.
QGIS 3.16.4 ltr (or newer): (with gdal)
https://www.qgis.org/en/site/forusers/download.html
use the 64-bit standalone installer

ImageMagick: (with Q16 support)

WorldPainter:

Additional tools
After that, create a new local “project folder” somewhere on your hard drive and extract all archives into the same directory. Be sure you select the same folder and use “extract here”, otherwise the program will not work! The final map export will also be saved inside this folder.

Set up WorldPainter
Before starting to generate some Tiles, you need to set up some settings inside WorldPainter. Open the program and then go to “Edit” in the menu and select “Preferences”. Go to the “Defaults” tab and click the blue link “Configure default border, terrain and layer settings”. A new window appears with the title “Edit Dimension Properties”. Go to the “Caves, Caverns and Chasms” tab and deactivate: “Caves everywhere”, “Caverns everywhere” and “Chasms everywhere” Also make sure to uncheck the checkboxes “… breaks the surface”. After this, go to the “Resources” tab and deactivate “Resources everywhere”. Press “Ok” to save and leave the settings. Now you can create Tiles with the correct export settings. (Unfortunately it is not possible to make these settings in the script, so you have to do it by yourself).
After installing everything, start the “MinecraftEarthTiles_TileSelector.exe” (or “MinecraftEarthTiles_TileSelector_Demo.exe”).
