If you are into productivity based tools for your creative and home office requirements, we assume you have recognized the importance of Office 365 suite. Of course, they have several plans in their kitty and have recently announced the Office 365 Personal plan for those who are looking for a better experience with the minimal requirements. The new plan came into existence in March 2019 and has been one of the widely subscribed offerings for all your needs when it comes to enjoying the best productivity related tools. We thought it would be a great idea to compare the plans and pricing of Office 365 Home and Personal plans for the Indian market. So, here are our experience with the two plans and their pricing.
What makes Office 365 a Great Option for your productivity?
Microsoft 365 is a subscription that includes the most collaborative, up-to-date features in one seamless, integrated experience. Microsoft 365 includes the robust Office desktop apps that you’re familiar with, like Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
Office 365 is a subscription-based service of Microsoft office. Of course, you have access to traditional services like the ones you have always been using so far – like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The family plan of the suite is named Office 365 Home. The scheme lets up to six members have access to the latest versions of the apps offered by Microsoft Office. Moreover, you also have access to 1 TB of OneDrive storage for each of the users.
Office 365 provides you access to the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook. You also have access to publisher and Access. What would make it one of the perfect options for use is you tend to get frequent and regular updates for the component applications.
What Makes Office 365 a good option?
Well, the Office 365 subscription comes with its own set of advantages and benefits. Some of the benefits that the service offers you can be summarised as here below –
Multi-device and Multi-Platform Compatibility
The single subscription provides you access to the Microsoft Office applications and services across multiple devices and operating systems. You can continue to use them on all PCs, Mac, Tablets, and smartphones.
The boxed copies that we used so far may not be economical anymore. If you are using Microsoft Office apps on your Windows device and switch to a Mac device, you will need to opt for a new copy again. Office 365 can be an excellent option as you can continue using the same application across multiple devices. Each of the people can install the suite on five separate devices.
Always Use the latest version of the applications
Office 365 stays updated with the latest versions of the Office apps. Whenever a new version of the operating system is launched, you will find that you have the newest version of the Office applications launched in your Office 365 suite.
The rate of update is also faster on an Office 365 suite than on the boxed copies of the operating system.
1 TB Storage Per User
Each of the users on the Office 365 suite will get you 1 TB of storage on OneDrive. That would mean, if you have opted for Office 365 Home Plan, you will have access to 6 TB of OneDrive storage shared between all the six users.
OneDrive cloud storage is quite good enough and comes integrated with your Windows 10 operating system. The best part is that it is available as a standalone app for iPhone, iPad, Android, macOS, and Windows 7. If you doo does not want to use the apps, you may opt for the OneDrive storage on the browser as well.
Extra Skype Benefits
The Office 365 subscription comes with Skype minutes for free. Each of the users on your Office 365 subscription will get 60 minutes for use on Skype. These can be used for calling landline and cellular numbers across the world.
The free Skype credits (minutes) are credited every month. This should be an added advantage for opting for an Office 365.
Office 365 Home Plan – What does it offer you?
Well, Office 365 is an excellent option if you tend to use the Microsoft Office applications for all your needs. The suite comes with a host of applications that include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other options.
You can opt for both annual or monthly plans as per your personal preferences. The O365 suite can be availed for six members. The package comprises of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneDrive. With the Office 365 Home provides you access to up to 1 TB OneDrive storage per user.
A few advantages offered by the Office 365 Home plan would include –
- You can share the files with up to six members. That would make it an excellent option for working with your entire family.
- Premium versions, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- You have access to full-fledged technical support through chat or phone.
- 1 TB of OneDrive storage for every user
- High-end security for the OneDrive storage option.
- Option to cancel your subscription any time as per your preferences.
The Office 365 subscription plan comes with either monthly or annual payment option. The plan is available at Rs. 5299 per year if you are opting for the yearly payment option. If you are looking to pay monthly, the subscription charges will be Rs. 530 per month.

Office 365 Personal – An Overview
The Personal Plan is the one that is best suited for you if you are not a power user. The contents and constituents of the plan remain the same as on the Office 365 Home plan. However, the only difference between the two would be the fact that you can install it only on one device.
The name itself should ideally indicate that the plan is specially designed for personal use only. The service is available on a wide range of devices, but you can use it only one device at a time. Like the Office 365 Home, you have access to 1 TB of OneDrive storage. Now that the plan is available only for one user, you will not be able to have more than 1 TB of usage.
Rest of the features and functions remain the same across both Home and Personal plans. The Office 365 Personal Plan is available at Rs. 4199 per year. If you opt for the monthly plan, you would need to pay Rs 420 per month.

Well, yes. It should rather be easy to migrate from Office 365 Personal to Office 365 Home rather easily. It would only involve visiting the Office 365 Official site and change your plan right away.
Make sure that you change your plan well before the expiry of your current plan. This will ensure that you will be able to use the new plan right from the first day.

As we have already observed, there is practically no difference between the Office 365 Home and Office 365 Personal plans except for the number of users on each of the plans. All other features remain the same across the two plans.
